The 5 Best Keto Syrups for Your Low-Carb Delights

2 minute read • July 11, 2023

I love a good stack of fluffy, warm pancakes on a Saturday morning, I also like chaffles—and thanks to a wide variety of keto-friendly syrups, it’s just as good as it ever was before I was keto.

These are my top favorite keto syrups that I would reach for when it’s a pancake or keto waffle kind of day.

1. Nature’s Hollow

Nature’s Hollow offers maple syrup and raspberry syrup at the moment, and they’re both delicious! I’m really impressed with their ingredients—nothing crazy or weird.

Their syrups are sweetened with xylitol—which is, of course, keto friendly. Just make sure you pay attention to how much you’re having so you don’t end up with GI issues from too much sugar alcohol. (This goes for any of the other brands that also use sugar alcohol!). There’s also the required warning that dogs and xylitol should never be in the same house, it’s fine for humans but bad for canines.

2. Walden Farms

Walden Farms has quite a few different syrup flavors, which is fun! Blueberry, caramel, maple bacon, chocolate, and more. These are sweetened with erythritol (another kind of sugar alcohol). If you’re wanting something outside of a standard maple syrup, this is definitely a brand I’d recommend!

3. Vermont Sugar-Free Syrup from Maple Grove Farms

I’ll be honest: the ingredients of this syrup are not the greatest. It does taste good, though, and is easily available at Walmart (which gives it some bonus points!). It’s sweetened with sorbitol and still manages to be a good keto-friendly replacement for classic maple syrup.

4. Choc Zero

If you’re a chocolate lover, Choc Zero’s keto syrups are a game-changer. They offer a few different flavors and are sweetened by monk fruit and “resistant dextrin” which is labeled as a fiber and alleges to not increase blood sugar (more on that in a bit).

Resistant fibers are a bit controversial. Some people report they have no problems with them at all, others see remarkable increases in blood sugar when they use Choc Zero, so it’s a bit of a mixed bag. My recommendation: test it with a cheap blood glucose meter and see if it affects YOU.

5. Lakanto

Lakanto is known for its monk fruit sweeteners and this syrup is no exception! It is a little more watery than other options (which makes sense, as the first ingredient is water) so depending on your preference, this may not be your favorite, but it’s generally widely available and a great option for keto and low carb folks. It comes in a few different flavors: chocolate, cinnamon maple, or traditional maple.

Bonus: Make your own syrup
